So, I took a weekend off. I'm sorry, but I really just didn't have the steam to do a weekend circuit or take the Metrolink somewhere. I figured that with all of the non-baseball activity I have done this month, and with a fully-booked September planned, a weekend off would do me some good. However, I did manage to catch a Thursday night 66ers game, and I took my parents two weekends ago on the Metrolink down into Anaheim for an Angels game.
My folks were in town for almost a week. It was so nice to see them, and I was so happy to take them down to Anaheim for the day trip to see the Angels. That trip has become such a large part of my life these past two years, and while we didn't ride our bikes, it was a lot of fun to show them everything. I hope they had a good time at the game, even though the Angels played lousy and got killed by Toronto.
A couple things moving forward with the week ahead:
I finally broke down and started participating in the PassPort program for the ballparks. A friend of mine on Facebook created this product that was perfectly designed for Baseball Road Trips. It is a PassPort book for both Minor League and Major League ballparks that you take to the park on your visit and the stadium personnel will stamp it with the date and city. I resisted purchasing it and embracing it because I have my trusty spiral notebook that records all that information, but I figured that the essence of Baseball Road Trip was challenging my routines and doing new things. I got stamped in at San Manuel Stadium last Thursday, and my first stamp actually filled me with a lot of excitement. It made the trip to the ballpark a little more special.
Finally, it has taken almost the entire season, but I am 24-hours away from commencing the 2015 edition of the Week of Baseball. Five games spread out over a span of six days all over Southern California. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are the last three home games for the 66ers in 2015. Since the 66ers had a collapse at the end of the season, they won't be playing in the postseason. Friday will see me head back to Rancho Cucamonga, this time to see the 66ers play on the road for my third 66ers Road Trip of the season. After a day-off on Saturday to celebrate the first day of the college football season, Sunday I'll head to Anaheim to see the Angels play. Finally, on Labor Day, my girlfriend and I are going down to San Diego to see the Padres play in the last San Diego Road Trip of the season.
The Week of Baseball is going to kick off a September that is very busy. I hope all of you are as excited as I am!
Always take on a 3-0 pitch ;)
