Enter August

It has been almost two weeks since I last posted, and I have to apologize to all of you for my silence! As the calendar turned to August, my schedule got super busy, but it never lost it's fun quality. There has been some baseball stuff over the last 14-days, including the last 66ers/Angels Weekend Circuit, a return trip to Catalina, and taking my younger brother to his first Angels game. The month of August is very busy, and baseball games are plugged in wherever I can.

Just like last year, I cashed in my free birthday trip out to Catalina Island. While my itinerary was different than last year, I did manage to swing by the old Wrigley Field site where the Cubs used to play. I snapped a few photos before moving on with my journey. This time, I spent two full days on the island with the night in-between camping in the backcountry of the island. While hiking back in to town, I ran across the famous buffalo herd, which was, admittedly, a little scary.

And, no, I haven't forgotten about the Catalina essay. Last year, I set out to write an essay about the Cubs on Catalina. I think that after this past trip, I have some great material to add to the essay. I was thinking that while I'm on the train for my next Baseball Road Trip out-of-state (more to come on that later), I could finish it up. Especially after seeing the natural beauty of the island, I'd be remiss not to continue working on it.

My younger brother, who's in the Navy, came down and visited me for the week. While in the midst of sightseeing in Southern California, we actually did a hybrid of the Sunday Road Trips I've done this year when the Angels play a later game. We went down to Newport Beach, hit the waves, grabbed a drink at the Brew Co, and saw the game.

This was my brother's first trip to the Big A, so I was able to show him the World Series trophy, the rockpile, and the new life-size bobblehead of Mike Trout. He bought himself an Angels hat, and really got in to the game. I hope he had a good time, and, maybe, he just became the newest Angels fan!

Unfortunately, there aren't anymore 66ers/Angels Weekend Circuits for the season. I'll certainly say that the three-game, three-day swing in San Bernardino and Anaheim was absolutely awesome. I loved the Hot Dog Nights on Friday and giveaways on Saturdays at San Manuel Stadium. While I still have a few more Sunday Angels games to go to, meaning the train and bike riding will continue, it blended so well with the Circuit. I'll definitely be doing that again next year.

As for this weekend, I'll be riding in to LA and doing Dodgers Game 3. There is a possibility, depending on how the rest of the season goes, that this will be my last Dodgers game of the year. I'll be interested to see if Dodger fans behave themselves again, as they were very good boys and girls last time I went.

That's an update of what's going on. I'm glad to bring all of you along with my adventures, even if they aren't totally baseball related!

Always take on a 3-0 pitch ;)
