First August Weekend

The Dog Days of Summer have arrived, and Baseball Road Trips are off to an extraordinary start. I'll be posting more about my trip to Catalina next week, but, in a word, it was awesome. I want to write about the rest of this weekend's festivities as there is certainly baseball to be seen.

Briefly, I have begun working on a recap of my Catalina trip that I'll probably post early next week. Instead of doing a "fact-based" historical essay, I've decided to make it more of a narrative of my day and my travels. It's more appropriate for this blog, and it will be more fascinating that way.

For tonight, it is the penultimate Saturday game for me at San Manuel Stadium. It's hard to believe that I only have three more 66ers games planned for this season. They will definitely not be making the playoffs, so I am going to try and soak up as much as I can. It's 3D T-Shirt night, and it comes with the funky glasses too.

Sunday will see my third trip down to San Diego to see the Padres play host to the Atlanta Braves. The Padres have been taking it on the chin this year, and were prominent sellers at last week's trade deadline. They have fired their general manager and their coach is certainly on the hot seat. Considering how beautiful Petco Park and the City of San Diego is, the bleak state of this organization is a little sad.

I'm bringing my bike along and doing a pre-game ride through downtown San Diego. For my post-game ride, I'm going to take the ferry across San Diego Bay to Coronado and ride the Silver Strand Bikeway. Like always, I'll stop by at a local brew, probably Coronado Brewing Co., before heading out of town.

Well, there is no rest for the weary as the baseball season heads into it's stretch run. Always some place to go and something to do. It may seem like I'm going a mile-a-minute, but I'm having so much fun.

Always take on a 3-0 pitch ;)
