Hiawatha

The day has finally arrived! I leave for the Hiawatha Baseball Road Trip today, and I can't begin to describe just how excited I am. This will be a four-state, four-city, four-game trip that will be one for the ages. In looking back, I don't think I have done a trip like this since the NL Central trip in 2009. Here's the itinerary for the next four days:

I spent the night at the airport last night and caught an early morning flight to Minneapolis via Chicago. I'm slated to get into Minneapolis around 3:30 in the afternoon. I'll catch the light rail into downtown, check-in at the hotel, and then rent a bike to ride around downtown ending at Target Field. I'll be doing the bike share for the very first time, so I'm interested to see how easy it is to use and if it's convenient. Tonight's game will feature my Angels playing visitor to the Twins. I'm all dressed up in my red, so I'm definitely supporting my team.

After spending the night in Minneapolis, I'm catching an early morning Greyhound bus for a six-hour ride to Milwaukee. Greyhound was the cheapest option, I didn't particularly want to drive, the train wasn't convenient, and I can only take so much air travel. I get into Milwaukee in the early afternoon, and I'm thinking about going to the Harley Davidson Museum. I'm definitely doing the bike share again, so I'll do a ride through Milwaukee before heading out to Miller Park. The Brewers are playing host to the Reds.

Saturday sees me catch the early morning Hiawatha train south the Chicago. I'll get into Chicago and immediately jump on the El to Wrigley Field to see the Cardinals and Cubs in an afternoon tilt. After the game, I'll take the El back into downtown and bike share through downtown. I'm supposed to meet up with an old Peace Corps friend and do some brewery touring through the city in the evening.

I'll spend the night at O'Hare Airport Saturday night to take an early flight back to LA on Sunday. But, I have tickets for the Pirates-Dodgers game on Sunday, so I'll conclude the trip at Dodger Stadium.

Yeah, lots and lots of activity. I'm treating this as a vacation, but, as you can see, I may need a vacation from the vacation!

I'll be very active on social media, and I'll update the blog every day of the trip. Stay tuned for the adventurers, and I am so glad I can take all of you along with me!

Always take on a 3-0 pitch ;)
