Dodgertown

Who needs an Easter Egg hunt when you can go to a baseball game? Exactly. Another full weekend of games for me, including my first trip to Dodger Stadium since 2011.

Stockton @ Inland Empire

The 66ers haven't quite righted the ship since last Saturday, going .500 over the week against San Jose and the first two games of the series against Stockton. They're tied for last in the Cal League South division, 5 games behind leader High Desert. It'll be Mike Trout Bobblehead Night at San Manuel Stadium, so it should be a fun night at the ballpark.

Arizona @ LA Dodgers

This will be my first trip to Dodger Stadium since 2011, and I am very excited for this experience. In all, I have five trips to Chavez Ravine this season planned. Here's the itinerary for Sunday: I'll take the Metrolink into Union Station with my bike. I'll pedal out Sunset Blvd. and climb up the massive hill to the Top Deck seats at Dodger Stadium. I've ridden up there before, and it is a doozie of a ride. Just like last week, the bike ride will be a quasi-workout for me before the game.

There are some interesting back stories to the game this Sunday. First, the D-Backs have been one of the biggest disappointments in the early going. After two-and-a-half weeks of the regular season, Arizona is 4-14; worst record in all of baseball. They were expected to challenge the Dodgers for the Division crown, if not a Wild Card spot. They will be rolling out Josh Collmenter against the Dodgers Josh Beckett.

As for the Dodgers, the cloud over this extremely talented team is all about Yasiel Puig. An ESPN story about how the polarizing Dodgers Right Fielder defected to the United States from Cuba via Mexico. It is a dark story about human trafficking, smuggling, and drugs. The Dodgers are concerned for his safety as he was involved with some very dark and dangerous people.

Last time I went to Dodger Stadium, safety was a concern. It still is an issue this year, magnified with the Yasiel Puig story. Folks, my safety is always my first priority. I am riding my bike, which adds an element of danger to it, but I am confident in my street smarts and abilities to stay out of trouble. I'm going to a day game and returning before dark. I should be perfectly fine, and I'm committed to having a fun time.

Always take on a 3-0 pitch ;)
